but first a little background info, trent and i have been living just outside of houston, in a little town called friendswood (cute huh). trent is doing a rotation at one of the big hospital's here, memorial hermann, and loves it by the way. i am working at a dental office and somehow i got lucky enough to work with some of the funnest people i have ever met. the dentist actually has a son that lives in park city and is there as we speak. not fair. we have tried to plan something fun to do every saturday while we are here. so far so good. one weekend we went over to the kemah boardwalk. can i just tell you how much fun it was. the atmosphere was amazing. the rides rocked. and the food was fabulous. we both got a pass that you can ride unlimited all day long. so worth it. we probably rode for 4 hours straight. and i mean there were no lines so we were actually on the rides for 4 straight hours. we had a blast and plan to go back next weekend for the mardi gras boat parade they put on every year. totally recommend the boardwalk if you ever make it over to houston.

the boardwalk bullet. seriously one of THE funnest roller coasters i have EVER been on.

it was right on the coast, almost touching the water. amazing.

didn't make it on the farris wheel. although if you saw the 'little couple' they went on it and it didn't look as fun as the boardwalk bullet. duh.

my face after about the 24th time on the drop zone. seriously. scariest ride ever. think of the ride on top of the stratosphere (same concept here, minus being on top of the stratosphere) and imagine it 100 times more scary. i LOVE the big shot and thought this was pretty weak. not so. you literally think you are going to die since it feels like it will never stop falling while you plumit into the earth. the last time i felt like i was going to die by bringing it on myself was in disney world at blizzard beach on the water slide that is completely vertical and usually results in a huge wedgie and your top coming off. i think i came off the slide and my life flashed before my eyes. i would totally do it again too. anyways..trent thought it was hysterical that as much as i tried not too i peed myself and screamed every single time. totally recommend it.

sledding

before trent and i headed back to the fabulous 75 degree weather here in texas we had to squeeze in some sledding time. this was madi's 2nd time sledding. the first time she left in tears because oscar "ate" her tube. he gets pretty excited and with all the fun going on around him he put a hole in m's tube. boo oscar. she had a blast though with all her doting aunts and uncles.

oddly m never got tired walking up the snow covered mountain. mybe it had to do with her getting pulled up every time. she loved it though

christmas in utah

we finshed up school in el paso and made our way up to utah for the holidays. trent is done with his classroom portion of school and this spring we are headed to houston and phoenix to finish his 2 interships. this spring we will also find out if he'll get his doctorate or graduate in may with his masters. we are hoping for the docorate. then hopefully we'll make our home in st. george this fall. yeah. all of trent's hard work is finally going to be worth it. i'll tell you what though, if anyone is considering going out of state for school/job do it. best thing we ever did. anyways, december was filled with family, friends, parties - lots of ugly sweater parties- jazz games, and again saying goodbye to everyone once january rolled around. you'd think it would get easier to say goodbye, but it never does.

madi - i swear she was supposed to be mine, but shan got to her first, not cool shan, I lOVE this GIrl!! she's in her rocking chair, drinking hot chocolate and watching the train go round the tree. ah the joy's of being two.

wow. speechless. our friend ugly sweater party. the boys looking as hot as ever. jake took ugliest sweater title due mainly to the fact that he wore that thing to work and found himself wearing the same vest as a co-worker. classy. and no you won't see any pics of the girls in their ugly sweaters.

trent upped his game at the family ugly sweater party and won the coveted golden shoe. thanks uncle jason for keeping it in your hutch until next year so we don't have to drive it all over the south western united states this spring!

two of my favorite girls. they are so girly and need my purple phone, purse and high heeled shoes the moment i walk into the room. they are so sweet. and pretty sassy too.

ah. trent nestling into his white elephant snuggie and a sweet new read. he is super interested in that book and couldn't put it down all night. right. i do have to add, trent gave the snuggie to our prego friend that will put that thing to good use. luckily trent did get a utes snuggie to replace the pink one.

since I've been on my blog. (long boring post ahead, mostly for family back home that I haven't talked to since summer and wants to know what's been going on in the Pass) so...moving on, I am debating whether I should dive into facebook since that seems to be where everyone hang's out these days. I dunno. Anyways Trent and I are back in El Paso. We had a Great summer vacation in Utah. Trent finished up his 2nd internship the middle of July and we were able to go to San Fran and St George before we moved back to the Pass. This coming spring we will be in Phoenix and Houston for Trent's last 2 internship's, then he'll graduate with his Master's and possibly a Doctorate the end of summer 2010. Hopefully UTEP will transition into a Doctorate program, we won't know for sure until the spring. Possibly by next fall we'll have a permant home in St George??
I love the weather here in El Paso. Fall and winter are actually enjoyable and I LOVE not having snow. Thus living in St George would be ideal. Our friends here are trying to convince us to stay, but we both want to be closer to family, especially since today is my nieces 2nd birthday and I'm not even there. Sorry M I love you!!
We've been busy with work, school, football and cheerleading!? Yes I am a cheer coach for a squad that cheers for a local little league football team. It's been really fun and it's testing my patience for future child rearing. I don't think I'm quite ready yet. The rest of our life is pretty routine with an occasional weekend getway. We are trying to squeeze everything we want to do down here in the next couple of months before we leave the great city of El Paso.
Other news, my mom lost another child to an out of state college last week. My little brother just started Veterinary school in Oregon. My poor mom. I love her to death and hope she doesn't die of a broken heart. Next year my little sister is graduating High School and starting college, who knows where she'll end up. At least she has her pride and joy Madi. Hopefully we'll get another one here shortly.
Trent was lucky enough to travel to Dallas to watch the BYU Oklahoma game a couple weeks ago. I know, I know, BYU, yuck, but his buddies down here are big fans and he had to take the opportunity to check out the new stadium. He said it was absolutly AMAZING!! I'm really not too surprised that he went though, if you know Trent you know he is passionate about sports. One of the many things I love about that boy.
We have a lot to look forward to in the next year & beyond and are so thankful for everyone who has let us stay with them and are willing to let us stay with them until we are done with school. We are so blessed with so many great family and friends.
And maybe I'll be seeing you on Facebook!!!!

some random fun things we did this summer were visiting tj up at snowbird at the station, parades with the family, trent winning two of his friends golf tournaments: the o'duls invitational and the walmart classic. trent has played more golf this summer than most grown men do in a lifetime. i love that he is so passionate about everything he does. he goes big or goes home. we also did lots and lots of boating!!!

summer wouldn't be the same without at least squeezing in 2 lake powell trips. we found a great spot for the house boat in a quiet cove. we only had the sun beating on us for a couple hours each day. it was pretty hot, but i wouldn't have it any other way. every night somebody would be in the lake before bed trying to cool off. summer wouldn't be the same without lake powell. we love it and miss it already.

another highlight of the summer was the bees games. we had season tickets and tried going to as many as we could between vacations. after all it was the summer o fun.

we were lucky enogh to take madi to the centerville parade this year since her parents were in africa. she loved the parade!!! it was great too since she was all about cuddling when the sirens came by. i'm going to miss my little buddy come september. boo

one of our summer highlights was bear lake. some of our friends came up from el paso for a few days we were able to go up and spend a couple days up at the lake. the boys played golf, we went to the pool, the lake, boating, the craft fair, played tennis, rode bikes and enjoyed the rodeo. of course we had our fair share of famous raspberry shakes. we had a blast and were glad our friends could come up and spend some of our summer o' fun with us.

me and some of my awesome family (parents, brother, sister, cousins, aunts and uncles) just returned from an amazing trip to orlando florida. trent wasn't able to come since he had an internship. :( sad but the reason we are here in utah-so i guess i can't complain. we visited magic kingdom, hollywood studio's, epcot, animal kingdom and blizzard beach. every day was so so hot and it felt like walking into a sauna with clothes on hanging out in there all day - by choice. crazy us. next time we'll go in the fall or early spring

can i just tell you how amazing the food was!!!

this particular resturant was on main street in magic kingdom and was so delicious!

this resturant was hilarious!!! it was in hollywood studio's. it's called 50's primetime cafe. i haven't laughed so hard in my whole life. the whole place was like you just stepped into mama's kitchen straight from the 50's. the staff made sure you didn't have your elbows on the table, no phones or texting at the table, you always use your manners and everyone finishes their vegetables before dessert. apparently i didn't eat enough so our fabulous waitor, cousin cooper, airplaned about 3 bites into my mouth. i would totally recommend this resturant to anyone who is going to disney world. worth every penny.

ahhhhhhh lake powell

another summer, another vacation to lake powell. trent and i were only able to meet the fam down in powell for the weekend but we had a great time. we wakeboarded, tubed, played badmiton, ate ice cream at the marina and of course the boys somehow got terry on the triple tube and kicked his butt into the lake. the little boys got to wakeboard with trent and t - there first time ever! good job boys! the kids showed off their singing skills with american idol and interesting dance moves. we soaked up the sun and can't wait to go again in july!!!!

ahh yes and this little beauty. luckily this isn't our house boat. but this boat had been sitting out in the bull frog marina for a couple years and somehow had gotten a hole in it. needless to say it wasn't pretty. it took forever for them to drag this thing in and by the time we left it was still sitting at the bottom of the boat launch.

We had a Girls Night Out last night and went to the Taylor Swift Concert. It was INCREDIBLE!!!The BeSt concert I've been to by far. First we ate at Cafe Rio and then headed out to the ESA. Most of the fans there were little girls with their moms (like us) and teenage girls. Not many boys, except the boy sitting in front of us belting out EVER song, choreographed and all. It was pretty entertaining just watching him. Taylor looked beautiful and everything about the concert was Amazing! I'm thinking if she is stopping in Vegas I might have to make a special trip down there. Her voice was Amazing and her costumes where Darling. Man that girl can really put on a show! The only let down was that Kellie Pickler didn't perform, Gloriana did. Don't know them? Well your better off than I was sitting in my seat wondering why I had to go through that. Luckily T-Swift more than made up for it.

trent and i just got back from mexico. we went with some friends. luckily we didn't see any pigs. but we ate THe best pork quesadillas EveR! ! ! when we were in mexico last thanksgiving with our same friends we ate at Elmer's and it was better than we remembered. which is amazing since we were obessed with it last time. kami and i almost didn't do any grocery shopping beforehand since we could really eat this stuff for breakfast, lunch and dinner. trust me we tried, but since greg grew up in mexico eating Elmer's, this didn't happen. boo greg. if you are ever passing through Colonial de Juarez be sure to stop by and experience Elmer's delicious menu for yourself. Yep they have orange fanta to wash it down. We will miss you this summer Elmer! !

no, i'm not pregnant, this isn't an announcement, but this is what i have to look forward too?

i stole this off of my girlfriend's blog. i think it's pretty funny. only because i haven't had morning sickness, unimaginable weight gain or been through hours and hours of hard labor. everything is still in place, still pretty firm and my belly hasn't expanded 5 times it's normal size.

but yeah i'm looking forward it to!!!

we just got back home from our annual spring training vacation to phoenix. this is far by one of our favorite trips that we look forward to each year. although this year we got to spend a whole week enjoying gReAt company, gReAt food and a gReAt amount of relaxation. trent was on spring break and i happened to have that time off at work since my boss was in florida. we got lots of sun, trent got in lots of golf and as always the girls had a blast shopping at all the FaBulOus malls, outlets, districts, etc.. there was no shortage of shopping! ahh another reason to LOVe phoenix. we stayed at an awesome hotel and added several hundred miles to the rental car. the weather was beautiful and perfect everyday!

the week went by way too fast and it's back to work and school again. but summer is coming and we can't wait to go home and see our families!

we have a sister that lives in magna AND we went to the moster truck show....ha ha stac...trent and i were lucky enough to get free tickets from my work to the monster truck show. neither of us had ever been or really ever had the desire to go. but to our surprise it was so fun! the place was packed! it was at the sun bowl which is where utep plays there football games and the place was sold out! it was crazy! the football games don't even get sold out. everyone was so into it. they actually did some taping while we were there for a future show on tv. we laughed the whole time and trent got all the people around us all worked up cheering for the trucks that were racing against their favorite. we had a great time but what has el paso done to us???

one of my bff's, becki, who IS a hair stylist, believe it or not, has one of the cutest little boys ever made. since trent and i haven't made any of our own kids, we can't post pics of our babies, like so many of you bloggers out there do. we have nieces, nephews and friends kids who steal the spotlight on our blog. looking at pics of only me and trent can get awfully boring awfully fast. so to continue mixing it up, here are some pics of kade. the little chunk is 10mons old and crazy cute. he is such a good baby. while in utah a group of our friends went to enjoy a delicious breakfast at doug and emmys (aw highschool memory) and kade just chilled the whole time. never a sound. just smiled. reclined in his highchair. hung out with the adults. amanda, i have to say your baby was super good and quiet too. can't wait till he makes his grand arrival in march! yay! your almost there! don't expect to see any pics of our kid for a couple more years. just enjoy this little stud til then...

we had such a blast this year at our first annual ugly sweater party. of course no prizes were given out this year since trent and i totally would have won. except ryan may have beaten me by a string and taken second. everyone was to wear the ugliest sweater ever and bring a white elephant. hopefully we'll have more ugly sweaters next year cuz i spent way too long at d.i. looking through their sweaters to only have a few people show up in hideous tops. whatever. it was so fun and can't wait til next year to claim my prize!!

most of the pics i took while in utah were of my beautiful niece. since trent and i lived with my sis and kent i got to spend SO much time with m. one of my most very favorite things was bathtime. kent usually gives her a bath at bedtime, but since he was in africa i got the privilege!! she is the cutest little bug! she is always so happy! alittle fiesty once in a while, but with a fiesty aunt she didn't get away with much. the best part really came after bathtime-snuggling. she is so obedient about after bathtime you get to snuggle while being rocked to sleep. i should get trent to do that to me, huh. it's really the best! i miss it like crazy! she is so sweet.

one night while all the kids were back home for the holidays we made gingerbread houses. and by we i mean everyone but me and trent. we watched and played with madi most of the time. the houses turned out so cute and i have to say i have a very creative family. it was so nice that trent and i and my brother colin and his wife kelcey were able to come into town at the same time so we could all play and see each other. we all had a great time. hopefully we can all see each other again this summer. it's hard when your family is spread throughout the country. not to mention ryan leaving us this fall for medical school. my poor mom. my parents didn't realize all the traveling we did when we were younger would someday lead us to all leave her and my dad. but we love you guys and will always come home to visit.

someting interesting we did while everyone was in town was eat at an african resturant. 3 of my siblings have lived in africa. first my brother in law kent served his mission in ivory coast. his wife, my sister did humanitarian work in ethiopia and ghana and finally my brother ryan served his mission in mozambique africa. ps kent just got back from visiting ivory coast for 11 days and got to brush up on his french. if you have ever seen along came polly then you have seen what an african resturant is like. i didn't eat the food but everyone who did said it was good. i couldn't get past the look or texture of it. below is a picture of my parent's and what the food looked like. i think i'll stick with where colin and kelcey lived and eat chinese food.

alberquerque temple visit

while in alberquerque we got up early one morning and did a session at the temple. el paso doesn't have a temple and the closest temple here is in juarez mexico. if you've listened or seen the news juarez is a battle field, so we don't get to go down as often as we'd like. thus making it hard to visit the temple monthly. so trent and i try to visit the temple wherever we vacation. we didn't realize living in utah that we totally took for granted being minutes away from the temple.

we were lucky enough to go to a utah utes game this season in alberquerque new mexico. deanne and terry came down to enjoy the game with us. we pulled off a win although it got a little scary. we love our utes and hopefully we'll be following them to a bowl game this year.

for everyone who doesn't know our second mom, here she is!! we lived in karen's basement apartment for the first 2 years of our beautiful marriage. we had many good times with karen. she regularly made us buckwheat bread, her friends walked around in their garments (trent will never be the same, yes, we put bleach in his eyes to clean them out) and ah, the time she had the cop show up at 6 o'clock in the morning on our doorstep. karen we miss you! life just isn't as exciting without you!

trent just recently finished his 1st clinical

at sierra medical center.

everyone at the hospital thought he was a

new physical therapist, not just a student, so

they were super bummed when he left.

got to be good friends and we've tailgated

with him and his wife before.

my beautiful niece turns ONE year old today!!

she is so sweet and such a good baby!

i miss her so much and have only seen her about 6 times

in her short little life. it's so not fair living so far away

from all my kids back home! next summer trent has an

internship in bountiful so i'll be able to enjoy living with her

for 3 months! yay i can't wait shan!

because of the angry comments i will let you in on...

the reason behind the hatred

first of all i'm not sure why i stand alone on this one.

why all the sex? if i wanted to read a book about two people who can't even make it to the bed before making love, although they are 2 feet away, i would have stopped at the local albertsons and got a raunchy grocery store novel. there are young girls reading this book, including my 16 year old sister. barf!

i am upset that bella ended up becoming a vampire. i liked her more when she was human and her blood smelled delicious to edward! she was averge looking, uncoordinated, a young, akward girl. edward could do everything she couldn't. he was there to protect her, always saving her life, now she can take care of herself. i love a man that can take care of his honey. like mine.

why nessie? i think the book could have gone a lot of different directions. after bella had nessie it was all down hill. i was super surprised when jake imprinted on nessie though. i'm still bitter that he and bella never worked out. if stephenie does another book on jake and nessie i'm going on strike.

bottom line...i don't love fantasy books or movies, so once everyone was vampires and werewolves, i think i tuned out. she should have stopped with eclipse.

i'm just glad i'm done with the book and i can start reading something else that isn't about mythical creatures.

after spending a few fabulous days in san diego we met my family in newport. we stayed at an awesome place (pictured above) that had so many activities. we layed out at the pool, played ping pong poolside, watched movies, went to the beach, ate at all our favorite california resturants, walked the pier, had cheesecake on a stick, and had the most relaxing and FaBuLoUs week EvEr!!!! it was so hard to say good-Bye knowing we wouldn't see our fam till christmas. but we had such a fun time hopefully time will fly by and it'll be christmas before we know it. i miss it so much (that was for you trent)

word of warning...there are LOTS of pictures of madi. she is pretty much all i took pics of. i can't believe she'll be one in a month and i won't be there! :(

we had so much fun in san diego!!! terry and tj met us down here for a couple days. we also got to meet up with our friends brady and cristina cook. they were great hosts and we had so much fun playing a fun new game of charades with a twist!! the beaches were the best and boogie boarding was a blast!! there was a stretch of ocean where baby sharks like to hang out, those of us who got in the water saw a couple, except me i didn't spot any. i don't know if that was good or bad? we miss it already! what a fun place to visit! i think for sure we'll be back in the future!

we are back from california and i'm hating the idea of going back to work tomorrow. i am just too good at not working to have to go back. we had a bLaSt!! it was so fun and relaxing!

9 days of playing with family, relaxing at the beach and pool, doing nothing at all, was GrEaT! i'll update once i get my pictures on the computer. trent starts his first clinical tomorrow bright and early at the hospital. he is excited that he doesn't have to sit at school for hours at a time, instead he'll be working with patients and getting lots of hands on experience!

rain rain go away and don't come back

so i don't really have anything to post about, but i was sick of looking at a picture of myself everytime i got onto blogspot to check on everyone else. this picture has nothing to do with what i'm about to post about but she is so beautiful that i thought i'd add something pretty to look at while i explain. luckily we aren't on the coast of texas and if we would have went to pt school in galveston we would be ringing out our sheets right now, another reason we are grateful we are in the pass. anyways...we did get to welcome dolly a couple of days ago. we had SO much rain. our street was pretty much a waterfall and no one here seems to know how to drive in the rain. everyone stays inside and won't leave until we only have a 10% chance of rain. so... the other morning when trent and i were driving home from the gym in the wee early hours trent decided it would be a real smart idea to roll down the window in my car on the drivers side to make sure that yes it was actually precipitaion that was causing the roads to flood and people to drive like maniacs. as soon as the window got ALL the way down one of our hombres flew past us and we got a car full. we busted up laughing! my car was soaked! the water was SO dirty and wet. obviously. luckily we had a towel from the gym to mop up some of the water as well as trents soaked face. what a dork my boy is. needless to say next time dolly comes into town we'll keep the windows rolled up. k trent!

my mom and sister were able to come visit trent and i this last weekend! it was so good to see them again. whenever we see each after several weeks and months have passed it seems like no time has gone by at all. we were lucky that they were able to stay for 5 fabulous days. we visited old mesilla, survived a freakin monsoon, went shopping, ate delicious food and of course played games. it was so fun and ended all too soon. we can't wait til we see them again in august for our california trip! thanks for coming to see us mom and lex!! xoxo

4th of July Festivities

this year the fourth of july was spent a little different than years past. each year we would enjoy the centerville parade, swim at mine or trent's house, get together with family, laugh and bbq. no not this year. i was actually quite surprised when i discovered i had the day off and it wasn't even cinco de mayo! the gym was even closed. we did get together with friends, went swimming, had a water fight, played a sweet game of frisbee (tied with rummikub for favorite activity ever) sweat in the heat like a mother and watched some okay fireworks. we missed our family and decided that holidays kinda suck when you don't have the family around. good thing we have great friends down here that are our family. the night ended semi early since i had to work the next day. we couldn't get carried away with such a silly holiday to take the whole weekend off. heaven forbid! nonetheless we had a GrEaT day and continue to LoVe mexico!!!!!

who knew you could have so much fun in the 107 degree heat?

we've done tons of fun things this summer. first was our trip home of course, then new york was super fun! but as for playing around here we've managed to keep ourselves entertained.

we climbed the franklin mountains and made ourselves a little friend, shown here below, look closely. it was blazing hot that day and i swear i almost died of heat stroke. we might as well have been hiking on the sun

the pool has been nice, of course it's not as nice as our parents pools, but you gotta take what you can get. the water is pretty cool, but it's awesome when it's 105 degrees out

trent and scotty had fun throwing the frisbee around. trent and i went out the next day and had ourselves our own game and got a little too much sun, but it was muy fun!

scotty, trents buddy who played college baseball with him in nebraska, was in town playing against the diablos. the diablos are an independent baseball organization here in the pass. anyway scotty stayed at our place and we had fun watching him play while he was in town.

I recently returned from New York City/Conneticut/Rhode Island with my fam. Trent couldn't make it since school started June 2nd. It was the first time I have ever been to New York or the east coast for that matter. Everything was so BiG! It totally reminded me of Las Vegas. Which was good since Trent and I went to Vegas on our honeymoon and I was in New York on our 3 year Anniversary. Of course we saw Time Square, Central Park, Battery Park, Wall Street, Ground Zero, and rode the subway and saw Grease on Broadway. Broadway was GrEaT. I guess Danny and Sandy were on a TV show that got them discovered and lead parts. They did a ReAllY good job. We of course went to Anosonia CT to visit Colin and Kelcey. We stayed at their house and hung out in Conneticut and R.I. We got to see the Bellvue mansions, one of which 27 Dresses was filmed in, I dunno I've never seen it. They were beautiful homes on the coast build back in the 1800's. We went to museums and got to enjoy all the BeAuTiFuL scenery. It was So So fun and want to take Trent back to see Everything I got to enjoy without him! Thanks mama and dad for such an awesome experience and being able to spend time with you guys! Can't wait till Cali!!!

Trent and I flew up to Utah a couple weeks ago for 10 days to see our family. It was SO fabulous to see our parents, sibs and of course our kids!!! We hadn't been home since Christmas so it was about time to finally get to see everyone again. We stayed with my sister in her guest room and enjoyed watching the O.C. every night. We are addicted for some reason even though it's the worst acting EvEr. But who can resist the Cohens? The weather wasn't the GrEaTeSt, but we didn't let that stop us from having fun. We swam at my parents, took the motorcycle out, lunched, had a family bbq and just got to hang out with our cool families. We miss them like CrAzY already!!!

The reason we decided to go to Utah in the first place was so we didn't have to drive from Texas to Lake Powell which was a lOnG 10 hour drive last time. so We figured we'd kill 2 birds with one stone and fly to Utah, see my fam and drive down to Powell with the Hendersons and play with them at the lake. and That is exactly what we did!! Little did we know that the weather was the worst ever for Memorial weekend. There was seriously no one there. We spent a lot of time in the house boat, none of the time in the water and some of the time playing Mexican golf(so fun by the way). Trent, TJ and some of the kids did brave the water to tube and wakeboard. Not the girls! Way to cold! We did try to enjoy all the rain and wind. We were just glad we were all there. It was sUpEr fun reguardless! Thanks Terry and Deanne for a FaBuLoUs weekend and lots of FuN memories!!!

over the years i have often wondered why i wasn't born with smaller feet. my 7 1/2 foot size seems so large compared to my 5 foot 3 inch stature. i regularly complain to my mom about my feet and tell her i should have bound my feet when i was a petite size 5, like they do in China. why i didn't, i don't know, until my mom sent me these photos...

um yeah... i think i have the perfect size feet! no more complaining. i love that i can walk, wear flip flops and stretch my toes. how sad!! i LOVE my feet!!!

cam is one of lexi's buddies who found out about a month ago that he has ewing's sarcoma(bone cancer) this pic was taken after he was in the hospital having having chemo treatments for a week straight. he looks awesome! he had a week off and is now back at Primary Childrens, back to the grind of chemo all week! we love you cam and know that you will kick cancer in the butt~ CANCER SUCKS!!!

carlsbad caverns

Last Saturday Trent and I went with our friends Todd and Jenny to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. We had been wanting to go for a while, so I finally got a Saturday off and Trent had just finished his finals. Everyone down here in The Pass said it was one of the funner things to to do here, so we decided to see for ourselves. We survived the 4 1/2 hour round trip drive and we have to agree, it was pretty amazing! There is only one way in and you feel like your walking your way into the depths of hell. It was a steep walk down, but opened up inside to a HUGE cave with tons of cool stalagmites and stalagtites(?) Next time we go we are going to stay and watch all the bats fly out of the cave at dusk. It's supposed to be thousands of Bats leaving the cave to go find food, apparently July or August is the best time to go. We can't wait to go back for that!

Yay Jazz!

I want to take a minute to congratulate the Jazz on a series well won! Finally Trent and I are able to watch the Jazz play on our television and not on our computer, thanks to the playoffs. Not too many Jazz fans downhere in the Pass equals no air time for the Jazz. Hopefully the Lakers don't kill them 4 games in a row, the Jazz have their work cut out for them. Real quick, any SportsCenter fans out their will understand my frustration with the fact that the Jazz are the last thing on ESPN's agenda. Urgh! The very last thing ever covered are the Jazz highlights! Yes, they even come after the NHL! WHAT? You ask? Belive it or not, it is getting better since the playoffs rolled around, but come on. It was terrible in the regular season since we didn't get to see a lot of games and we needed Jazz highlights before midnight. Well SportsCenter you are getting a letter of complaint in the mail from me real soon! Thanks for the idea Stac! I'll get off my soapbox now.

well i'm sure everyone is tired of looking at my plea to get onto the scentsy bandwagon, but seriously nothing has been going on here in the Pass. although i'm not complaining. trent is finishing up another semester of school. this is his last week of class and then it's finals week. Yay one more semester down! he is doing awesome and kicking butt! i am trying to stay busy between my full time aesthetician job and somewhat part time scentsy job. trent has joined a summer softball league so that takes up our tuesday nights. as for the upcoming activites we have planned they are as follows...we are going to carlsbad caverns in 2 weeks with some of our friends. it's a national park in new mexico with lots of amazing caves to explore. everyone has told us we need to take advantage while we are here. so we'll see if they are right. we are most excited about our utah trip home on may 17th. we are going to lake powell with the hendersons while we are in town. it seems like forever since we have been boating and stayed on the house boat! we can't hardly wait to see our families and the kids!!!! after utah i'm off to the east coast with my family to visit my brother and sister! it'll be my first time to conneticutt and i'm especially excited for new york!! the rest of our days are up in the air. we go swimming at the rec pool most nights, enjoy tin roof blizzards and long walks together watching the sun set. well that's my update and i'm stickin to it!

for anyone who has seen the movie or the previews for 21, you must read 'bringing down the house'. ben mezrich wrote the book about the MIT students that 'brought vegas to their knees'. we saw the movie today and loved it! trent read the book a couple of years ago and couldn't put it down! he was thrilled when we saw previews for the movie. he told me i had to read the book before we went and saw the movie. well the book was so good it only took me a couple of days to read, now i'm half way through the next book. i highly recommend the movie, but if you want a good read, read this book! if i knew how i would put a little picture of the movie above this post, but i can't figure out how everyone gets pictures they didn't take on their posts? i guess i need to do some research! anyone who knows how to do this, let me in on the secret!

spring training

nope, we can never get enough sports at our house! trent and i met up with our henderson family in phoenix over easter weekend. trent had spring break so we decided that it had been too long since we saw the fam and we needed some sun and fun! we saw 5 games in 4 days. unfortunatly we didn't get the chance to give the players any advice this time at spring training. isn't that what spring training is anyway?? ha ha!! we did do some shopping at the swap meet! we ate delicious food at all of Troy's favorite resturaunts and the boys played lots of golf! we had a great time and made lots of fun memories!

Luckily this basketball season the Utes and Miners equally sucked. But it turned out to be very good for Trent and I. We were able to go see our beloved Utes win a not even close game against our Miners. We were seriously 2 out of the 5 Utah fans there. Although I can understand that no one in Utah wanted to come down to Mexico to see two crappy teams compete. Not even the fabulous 80 degree weather could bring any Utah fans this far south. Needless to say we had a GREAT night cheering for the Utes, it felt like being back home at the Huntsman Center!

I had the BEST Birthday EVER!!!

Saturday I was feeling pretty dumbed about not having my mom and family with me on my Birthday! I had just finished writing my mom an e-mail about how sad I was and it how wouldn't be the same without them, when the door opened and there was my mom, sister Shan and Madi!! I bursted into tears and couldn't belive it! Trent had told me that he was going to study and really went to the airport to pick up the surprise guests!! I still can't belive everyone kept it a secret for a whole month! I'm so glad I didn't find out because it was so awesome to have such a FABULOUS surprise! We did lots of shopping, talking and hanging out! I miss them already and it's only been 4 hours since they left!

RUIDOSO NEW MEXICO

We took a fun little vacation to Ruidoso with some of our friends. It's about 2 hours north of El Paso and is very similar to Park City. We were told that it was supposed to snow the whole weekend while we were up there, but it only sprinkled one night! YAY! It was still super cold though! Luckily our condo had a hot tub on the patio that warmed us up quick! We had a BLAST shopping, eating, playing games, hanging out and laughing our heads off! We can't wait till next trip! I took tons of pictures, but for some reason they won't download, so I'll post those later. Oh, for those of you that read my blog, only 6 shopping days left till my 24th BIRHTDAY!! Yikes!

trent and i went out the other night with some of our good friends. since justin is a dentist for the army we were able to go to the army base for a little friendly bowling. of course trent brought his own bowling ball and we both have our own bowling shoes. if you even started to think i was a good bowler bringing my own shoes and all, think again! trent's mom used to play on a bowling league and the shoes somehow made there way into my hands. i am still trying to learn how to get the lightest ball, which is all i use, to knock over the pins, not the other way around! needless to say me and trent did beat justin and nicole resulting in them buying cold stone. it's always a good idea to have trent on your team when there is bowling involved! he pretty much carried our team.

EXCEPT HORSE RACING

heck yeah! We have a sweet casino in New Mexico that is about 5 minutes from our home! Every weekend they have horse racing! We decided to go down and see what all the excitement was about. It was pretty enteraining and you can't beat being entertained for free! Trent won a whole $3.20 since he is a natural at picking the winning horse! Who knew? We went with some of our friends and their little boy (pictured above with Trent) It was a beautiful day, perfect for a day at the Races!

This is about all Trent and I do these days if I'm not at work and he's not at school! We get up at 6:45 am every morning and go to the UTEP gym. It started out as just a way to get in shape, but now it's something we look forward to doing together. We run on the treadmills and lift wieghts together. It's nice to be able to talk and catch up since we are both busy all day long. Here's a look at our lovely gym. I didn't take this picture just for the blog if your wondering. Trent had to get pictures of the correct way to use the machines for a class. Obviously I don't have anything to blog about, but I'm not that desperate! Anyways..just a look into one of our favorite things to do as a couple, a couple of dorks.

For all my friends who don't live in Utah, let this be a reminder why we chose to move elsewhere! Some days I find myself wishing I was back home, then I look at this picture, smile and walk out onto our balcony and enjoy the 70 degree weather in January. I'm sure in the summer, when the pool is open and everyone is laying out together, I might not be smiling so big! So ,while I can, I am going to enjoy the beautiful El Paso weather.

While in Utah for Christmas the fam decided to do something fun and different. We went to the lights at Hogle Zoo! It was SO FUN and SO cold! A lot of the animals you don't see in the summer were out walking around in their cages. Everything was decorated in Christmas lights and animal shaped lights. One person that really liked it was Madilynn! She loved looking at all the bright, colorful lights and loved being strapped to the front of Shan so she could see everything! I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested! I know we will for sure go again next year!

Trent and I were super excited when we heard Southern Florida was coming to El Paso this year to play in the SunBowl! No we aren't die hard USF fans, but one of our good friends plays for the University! Welcome Houston! We sat with Houston's family and right next to the band! It was so loud and I now have USF's fight song ingrained into my brain! But it was great because it drowned out the super annoying fans we had sitting behind us in the second half! The game was on New Year's Eve day so we hung out with Houston, his brother and cousins and some of our friends that night! Houston is seriously so big! I remember when we were all juniors and he was just a skinny little boy, that is no more! You can tell just how big he is in the picture of the boys standing next to each other - Houston isn't on a chair! We had a Great time at the game and seeing our old friend again! It was such a fun Christmas this year! Colin and Kelcey came from Conneticut, we were home from Texas, Ryan was home from Africa and Madi came from heaven! Trent and I slept over at mom and dad's with Alexa and Ryan and everyone else came up that morning! We all got spoiled, like every year, especially little Madi!! She gets cuter every day-we keep asking ourselves if that is possible. Later that day we visited grandparents and Trent's family! It was so great to see all our kids on the Henderson's side! Talk about my favorite little people ever! Sorry Rolof's! Christmas Day always goes by too fast! This year was no exception! Every year it seems like the days go by quicker and quicker! Shout out to Amanda Williams - next time we're all in town we want a rematch of Settlers! Not cool that you decided to wait until the wee hours of the morning to play Settlers - you know I'm not a night, or morning person for that matter!! Ha Ha

One of our most favorite things about All the trips we take to California is the Beautiful white building with In N Out written in red!! It really all started when my dad discovered the magical place years ago! We've been in 'double double' bliss ever since! We have to stop at least twice during our stay! Without it, our trips wouldn't be the same! Thank In N Out for making us so Happy!

Trent and I were so excited to get together with some of our close friends and have a white elephant exchange! Among the gifts were some great D.I. finds, including some sweet wall art, a mormon sports trivia game from '75, a bath pillow(what amanda? jk) and as always the lovely book of our hot, half-naked husbands!! Can't wait till next year josh! It's all you!!

Disneyland was so fun! It seems like a million years ago since we were there! We stayed at the Grand Californian,which was so close to Disneyland and it had it's own enterance into California Adventure. The weather is about the same as it is here in El Paso, but Everyone that came from Utah loved it! Nothing in Disneyland was left undecorated and it made us all so excited for Christmas! We saw tons of characters, all the girls ate breakfast with the princesses, Trent finally got his turkey leg he has been craving every year we're there, they had parades, oh and a couple people! The weekdays were great, not too crowded, but the weekend was pretty busy! We went on all our favorite rides, several times, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Screamin, Soarin and on and on... The best part was when me, Trent, Ryan and Alexa got into our swimsuits (mine was a tank top and shorts, since I forgot my suit, duh) one night right before California Adventure closed. It was freezing outside, but we braved the cold and jumped on the River Rapids ride, where you can get wet. Well, not only did we get wet, we got soaked! After a couple runs we ran the short distance back to our hotel and dove into the hot tub! That was certainly one of the many fun things we did that week. It was so much fun to spend that time with our families and do something fun with them while Trent had a break from school! We can't wait till we do it again next year!!

Well our fabulous vacation is over! But Fabulous it was!! It was SO good to see everyone again! I have so many things to catch everyone up on, but Trent and I are getting ready to go to the Sun Bowl, so I'll post when we return! I hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas! We sure did! I do have to say, I love the warm weather here in El Paso. It snowed everyday we were in Utah, the one thing we don't miss about home!

Well, we're off to California tomorrow for 6 fabulous days! We are spending the first few days with my fam and ending our vacation with Trent's family in Anahiem! Usually every Christmas when we're packing up our stuff for California I am looking forward to warmer weather. This year it will be cooler in California then our home here in El Paso. We've loved the warm winter here so far, but we're excited to come home even though the snow will be awaiting us! Once our vacation in Cali is over we are coming home to Bountiful for 8 days! I'm so excited to see everyone and be back home! I wanna visit the new Layer's Store in Centerville, visit Robert's Crafts, do some hot tubbing, and eat some Bajio's again! Ah, I miss Bajio! It's finally going to feel like Christmas once we're in Disneyland!

we got jipped! this is not what we signed up for!

trent and i went to tucson for thanksgiving and came home to a blizzard! we were snuggling by the fire, watching the utah/byu football game when we noticed beautiful blue skies in provo! no, not here where the snow was swirling about. you have to realize el paso rarely gets any snow, so imagine our delight when we realized we had no coats, no gloves and i left all my boots in utah thinking we wouldn't be needing them for 3 years! well, we are very disappointed in the snow, hopefully it will be completely gone tomorrow!

please stop praying for moisture!

hey everybody! yes, that's right, i'm posting random pictures daily now! i've got so many pictures from over the weekend i'm spreading the love and hoping every family member gets a cameo! of course, since madi was the inspiration for the trip, she gets the most blog time! she pretty much slept through my whole trip, but i know i'm her favorite aunt already! the best is when madi kept pulling a 'blue steel' face! i was laughing too hard to remember to take a picture. it was classic! it was so nice to get to see most of our friends and family! only a month left till disneyland! wahoo!

Our beautiful Baby Madi was blessed on Sunday November 4th!!! She looked beautiful in the same blessing dress her mom wore and the same shoes her mom and grandma wore! Kent gave her an amazing blessing! She is the cutest, sweetest baby I've ever seen! Props to Kent and Shan! Trent and I were so glad we made it up to Bountiful to see her on her BIG day! She is so much smaller in real life than in the pictures! Not only was Madi looking great, so was Shan! You NEVER would have guessed she had a baby 6 weeks ago! The Pierson's are such a cute family! As cute as Madi turned out, I think they need to get busy on #2! What do you think Shan? ha ha! Love You Guys! Thanks Fam for such a Great Weekend!

Last night Trent and I went to the Ward Halloween Carnival!! We had chili and cornbread for dinner and let me tell you, dessert was the best! Trent especially Loved it! After dinner we walked outside to get the candy for the kids to Trunk-Or-Treat, that's when we spotted it! Doc had the De Lorean parked out front! Trent Loves Back To The Future! It's his all time favorite! Needless to say Trent had to take a seat and we had to get pictures! ha ha! We love our ward! especially Doc for making our night!

you never know, maybe Trent will be the next Marty!!??

for lack of anything better to blog about, i'll announce, i got a job! i'm not sure that sentence deserves an explanation point or not. i have been slowly looking for a job to help pass the time down here in the borderland! i'm finally going to be using my aesthetician training in a paid environtment! i did way too many stinking (literally) pedicures while in school. i think i deserve some cash flow for all my hard work! i'm going to be doing chemical peels, microdermabrasion and hopefully laser hair removal soon! no more of the funky feet stuff! if anyone's interested just call 915-838-8080! ha ha i'll even throw in free room and board!
